Village Capital
Unlocking social and financial capital
Village Capital is a global venture capital firm that has pioneered peer-selected investment and entrepreneur support models to back founders solving real-world challenges in sectors such as financial inclusion, sustainability, and the future of work.
Their unique approach—where entrepreneurs evaluate and select one another for investment—has reshaped how early-stage capital is deployed, ensuring that innovative solutions often overlooked by traditional investors receive the resources they need to grow.
Our relationship with Village Capital extends beyond capital. Bryce Butler, Managing Director of Access Ventures, served on the Village Capital board for six years, including several years as Board Chair. During that time, he helped guide the organization through a critical period of growth and global expansion, championing the belief that financial return and social impact can and should coexist.
For Access Ventures, Village Capital represents both a long-standing partner and a kindred spirit—an innovator proving that by rethinking how we deploy capital, we can expand access, empower entrepreneurs, and build a more inclusive economy.
From 2015 to 2017, Access Ventures partnered with Village Capital on a dedicated Financial Inclusion program, co-designing and co-investing in entrepreneurs reimagining access to financial services. This collaboration resulted in multiple investments in fintech companies committed to expanding opportunity for underserved communities. In addition to program collaboration, Access Ventures is also an investor in the Village Capital Fund, furthering our alignment with their mission to democratize entrepreneurship and broaden access to capital.
